Things To Do After Creating A Website

It’s a topic that has come up often in our conversations with clients over the past 6 years.

So we’ve decided to write an in-depth guide where you’ll learn the following:

  • How to make the most of your website.
  • How to bring traffic to your websites.
  • Lots more.

Let’s get started.

website analytics and traffic

Are Websites useful?

As business owners, we’re always told that a website is the life blood of your business. In fact, over two thirds of small businesses have a website and many who don’t, plan on creating one in the near future.

But why is it so important?

First, it’s a quick place to learn more about your business.

The days of flipping through the giant yellow pages book to find someone are gone. I remember when my parents had to flip through countless pages just to find an electrician for a light fixture!

Now a quick google search removes that hassle and has made SEO an important part of a business’ online presence. More on that later in the guide.

Next, it gives businesses an opportunity to answer frequently asked questions from interested visitors. This leads to fewer calls and shorter wait times for everyone.

Not to mention, websites establish trust for your business and provide an easy conversion tool.

Looking to create a website or on the fence about one? Learn what you can expect from a typical web design process so that you’re prepared for each step.

Are You Keeping Your Website Up To Date?

I mentioned earlier how SEO is important to consider for businesses looking to expand their reach. But do you have the right tools to make it happen?

Guess what?

Your website is all that’s needed to improve your ranking on Google. How does it work?

You guessed it. Keeping it up to date!

A well-designed, up-to-date online presence is likely to rank higher in search engines and receive more engagement. Sort of like social media.

We’ve all stumbled upon an Instagram or twitter profile that was last updated a few years ago.

“Are they still in business?” “Perhaps they’re not doing well”.

These are not questions your potential clients should ask.

Besides, your business will most likely change as time goes by. Perhaps some new products or services? Maybe some announcements or promotions you’d like to share? Your website is the perfect place to give visitors a heads up. Even perhaps incorporating some of the latest web design trends to your website.

You can also write articles and blog posts. These are a great way to share news about your company with customers, have discussions related to various topics in your industry, or offer helpful tutorials for users on using your products or services.

Did I also mention that frequently posting articles is the most effective way to improve your ranking on Google? So not only do more people see your content, but customers benefit as well.

But all of this can be pretty time consuming. Especially when you have a business to run. If that’s the case, we can fill in that gap and help manage your website so you can focus on other areas.

We offer maintenance plans where we take care of everything from the upkeep of the site to a content writing strategy that improves your business’ visibility. Give us a shout to learn more.

My website’s up to date. How do I increase my traffic?

The million dollar question. Think about it this way, when you’re browsing on the internet, what are some ways you come across a website?

Let’s start with Google since it has the most opportunities for visibility. If you’ve ever searched for a service or business name, you’ll either notice a list of businesses next to a map of your area or a single one on the top/side.

That’s the Google Business Profile you’re looking at. It’s a free service that provides information about your business, such as your business name, address, phone number and website address. It also shows the hours of operation for each location you have on file. This makes it easy for customers to find businesses like yours when searching on Google Maps or Search. I highly recommend doing this right after creating your website.

Besides the profile, consider registering yourself in business directories like yelp, yellow pages, or even your local city/town directory. You’re starting out, so any visibility here helps.

Not to mention, it’ll also add some trust to your business and improve your search ranking.

Google also gives you an opportunity to advertise your website high in the search results through paid ads. It’s a great way to quickly boost traffic to your website from searches related to your business.

In order to get started with paid search, choose the right keywords that are relevant to your industry. You can do this by using a keyword tool like Google’s Keyword Planner or SEMrush. They will show you which words people are searching for, how often they’re searched and in what country or city. You can then use these insights to create an effective PPC campaign that targets those specific queries.

It can get quite costly pretty quickly, so start small and scale up as needed. You can narrow it down to specific cities or countries, which can help you get more local customers. Reading some guides or hiring a PPC expert may be wise in the beginning.

If you have the budget, paid advertising can be a great way to get more people to visit your website. If not, consider exploring free ways to further optimize your website to rank higher. The idea is to make sure that when people search for certain keywords related to your business, they’re more likely to find you instead of your competitors.

Finally, you can use social media to attract new customers. Posting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can help build your brand awareness and promote your products or services. Focus on posting things that are genuinely valuable and entertaining, rather than only promoting your company. The goal is to create content that your followers will enjoy and share with their friends. The more people who see it, the more likely they are to click on your links and visit your website.

social media

Similar to Google, social media platforms offer paid advertising options to help boost your reach to your target audience as you build your organic presence. A great way to increase your follower count and send traffic to your website.

Consider which platforms your target audience uses most often, and begin by advertising on only one or two of these at first.
